The Story

West Coast IPA hopped with Columbus, Citra, and Crosby Estate-Grown Comet
6.8% ABV
Tasting Notes: DANK, Resinous, Cantaloupe, Spruce Tips
16 oz. cans.

We like our hazy IPAs cloudy, fruity, and soft on the palate, preferably with a full-bodied mouthfeel and brewed with hops of exotic origin. However, that’s not the final word as far as IPAs go. For those of us that revel in going against the grain, let us present the West Coast IPA for (re)consideration.

Seasoned craft beer drinkers will remember when West Coast IPAs were the category standard and the pinnacle of hop expression in beer. In contrast to today’s hazy New England IPAs, West Coast IPAs are far less cloudy, sometimes even brilliantly clear. WCIPAs tend to be lighter in body with a more assertive bitterness, contributing to their clean, crisp finish. The hops can impart flavors ranging from fruity to dank, hitting many levels in-between. It’s a classic style we have loads of respect for.

Following the release of our other WCIPA, Asymmetry, we’re excited to make room for Good Bad News in our portfolio. Thanks to its hop bill, dank meets fruity in a harmonious union. Punctuated by a firm bitterness and a touch lighter in body and color compared to Asymmetry, it’s exactly the kind of trouble we’re looking to get into.
